Here is some basic knowledge on understanding our grades of wheel
(typical grade looks like this 2A-60-KV
2A = type of wheel, in this case white aluminium oxide. This can vary depending on manufacturer but the first 2-3 letters are always denoting the type of wheel.
60 = this is the important bit. This is the size of abrasive grit that the wheel is made from. Grit size is very important as choosing the right one will help you grind the work piece correctly. The rule of thumb is the lower the number the larger the grit size and this makes the wheel coarser so a 46 grit is a coarser wheel than a 100 grit. You would use a coarser grit wheel for stock removal and a finer grit wheel if you require a high surface finish. 46 & 60 grit wheels are the most common general purpose wheel.
KV = The first letter denotes the bond hardness of a wheel, hardness follows the alphabet in that the higher the letter the harder / stronger the bond. J & K grades are the most common. We mainly only sell K grades so this should give you some benchmark. The V in the grade just denotes that the wheel is vitrified. Vitrification is the process where the clay bonds fuse with the grain.
